About

Pem Lham (b. 1997, Thimphu, Bhutan) is a contemporary artist based in Thimphu, Bhutan. Her practice is an introspective exploration of personal experience shaped by identity, culture, gender, and the contemporary moment she inhabits.

Through subtle and satirical visual language, her work examines the complexities of gender dynamics and social conditioning, revealing layered experiences of womanhood and the interplay between cultural narratives, identity, and perception.

Working across installation and painting, she engages in an ongoing process of deconstructing, rearranging, and transforming materials through traditional techniques. Her methodology reflects a deep commitment to preserving and reinterpreting Bhutanese cultural narratives and belief systems within a contemporary framework.
